Text Box: The act of manifestation is really quite simple. Thoughts become words become actions become manifest. Along the way, there are many chances to alter or abandon the goal. Doing so is choosing to not manifest the original vision. However, with persistence and focus, any vision can be fulfilled.

For the past few months, I have had thoughts about manifesting change. Along with many others, I have recognized a need for humanity to alter its pathway. There are many challenges to face, and the future of mankind depends on the steps that we take over the next few years.

Though any individual may initiate change, real change will not occur unless humanity wants it to occur. While shifting takes place one by one, it takes a group to make an impact. As more and more people move towards creation of a common vision, its manifestation becomes more likely. To share a common vision, many people must first become aware of it.

Creation of a vision involves visualization of an end result, and then identification of the steps required to get there. Though all steps may not be immediately visible, the next step is often apparent. Once a vision has been created, it becomes easy to identify elements that are not in alignment with the vision. By taking steps that move towards a vision, and not choosing steps that impede progress, the outcome solidifies.

A window of opportunity has opened for me to offer a vision to the city of Toronto. With political boundaries declaring a population of 2.5 million, the area actually contains almost 6 million people. As of this week, I am officially running for the position of Mayor of Toronto. With municipal elections scheduled for November 13, 2006, I have eleven weeks to share my story.

My campaign strategy is quite simple. I have created a web site describing a vision for Toronto, along with some potential solutions. My next task is to get people to go to the web site and consider the vision. There are many steps required to fulfill the vision, and I have only suggested some. It will take the participation of many to shift the focus of a city.

My campaign will also involve the business concept of structured empowerment. The days where an elite few make the decisions for many are disappearing. Instead, every individual is welcomed to participate, with both ideas and efforts. It is essential to set targets and guidelines, but transfer of ownership to people directly involved in a service or project allows the introduction of detailed knowledge to solutions. Who is better to manage a department than the people in that department? Who is better to oversee a neighborhood than the people in that neighborhood?

To some, my disadvantage is that I have never participated in the political arena. This may instead be my advantage. Perhaps too much experience in politics limits perception of solutions. My intention is to introduce fresh concepts to the operations of the city, based on business experience. The city of Toronto is a service corporation, and the concepts of Corporate Transformation can be applied to any large business. By empowering participants to improve their area, real change can begin to take place. Toronto will be great if all the people decide to make it great.
