Text Box: Note from author: The information contained in this article is based on Internet research and speculation. I am not necessarily predicting the future, instead I am reporting on the thoughts that are circulating through the mass consciousness. These thoughts are growing rapidly, thus the early release of this column. On Monday night, July 31, CNN will be running a program titled ‘Countdown to Armageddon?’

In my belief system, the future is never guaranteed. We each have the opportunity to choose our thoughts and feelings, and we are all responsible for our actions. As we anticipate the upcoming crisis, perhaps cooler heads will prevail and bring an end to this ancient feud. Perhaps the world says enough is enough, and perhaps our species is about to shift to a higher spiritual consciousness. Living through linear time, we have to wait and see.

In a world dominated by religion, it is impossible to ignore the influence of holy books. Whether the Bible, the Torah, or the Koran, these books are cherished and followed to the extreme by those who believe. While some may question the validity of holy books, others deeply believe that the words should be followed literally.

As the crisis in the Middle East looms over the world, there is a different feel to this war. We have felt wars before, all of our lives. There has always been conflict somewhere, and modern media has never failed to report on the troubles of the world. This time, as attention focuses on Israel, there is a different energy. This time we know it can go further, and can only hope and pray that it does not.

Unfortunately, all of the holy books say different. While the books themselves may not be the greatest predictors of future events, they do identify actions for followers. Though each person forms his/her own interpretation of the words, there are some concepts that are broadly accepted. A holy war is more than just the defense of self and faith; it is also the prescribed duty of the believer. The time has come for the directives of the Koran, the Bible and the Torah to be followed. Armageddon has arrived.

A unique find was announced this week from Ireland, where a very old bible was found buried in a bog. Preserved by its environment, this bible was created between 800 and 1000 A.D. The conditions had left the book readable, and it had been left open to Psalm 83. In a world of strange coincidences, this reading provides some very timely information.

Psalm 83 is primarily a prayer to the lord for assistance against the enemy. It speaks about various tribes conspiring against Israel, making the statement ‘let us destroy them as a nation that the name of Israel be remembered no more’. The names of the alliance against Israel listed in the psalm are all ancient. However, the modern names of the same areas and cities provide a shocking map of the mid-east crisis. (See news link, bible search link and footnote at bottom of article)

Mentioned as one of the opponents of Israel, the city of Tyre is now the fourth largest in Lebanon, and is now under attack. The city of Gebal, also known as Byblos, currently exists in Lebanon as Jbeil, and is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. Gebal was originally a Phoenician city first settled about 5000 B.C. The word ‘bible’ evolved from the Greek version of the city’s name. Jbeil is also currently under attack.

The countries of Edom, Moab, Ammon and Philistia are all to the south of Israel on ancient maps. Today these areas are known as Jordan and Egypt. The area known as Assyria not only includes what we today call Syria, but also most of Iraq and Iran. To add to the building conflict, the US and Britain are positioned in Iraq, and therefore stand between Iran and Israel.

As for those from Amalek, all were slaughtered by the Israelites in biblical times. Apparently the Amalekites had repeatedly attacked the Israelites during their exodus from Egypt, and their genocide was commanded ‘by god’. Following the directions of their holy book, the Israelites killed men, women, children and even livestock while eradicating the Amelikite people. Ever since, opponents have tried to arrange the same fate for the Israelis.

Whether or not you believe that the bible makes an eerie prediction of the future, there can be no doubt that the holy books have influence on today’s news. Have the holy books correctly predicted current events, or have they merely acted as suggestive guidelines to those who revere the word? There are people who base their lives on the belief that the words in the book must be followed.

Let’s take this research a little further. In a previous column I spoke about the Bible Code, a book about applying sophisticated computer code-breaking software to the original Hebrew bible. This week, following a sudden inspiration to see if the Bible Code addressed current events, I found some shocking results. While the statistical significance and origin of the bible codes can be debated, the information presented below is now circulating on the Internet. These thoughts have entered the mass consciousness.

Armageddon continued…

Armageddon

A holy war is more than just the defense of self and faith; it is also the prescribed duty of the believer.
