Text Box: In the movie ‘Supersize Me’, filmmaker Morgan Spurlock documents the effect of eating at McDonald’s restaurants for thirty days. Though I have not seen the movie, I am told the effect on his health was dramatically negative. Through a series of coincidences that brought new information to me, I have decided to do something different.

This past weekend I met Jenna Norwood, whose movie ‘Supercharge Me’ documents her experience eating only raw food for thirty days. According to Jenna, the effect on her health and well-being was tremendous. She still maintains a diet of primarily raw food after almost four years. Following a viewing of the movie, Jenna presented a short food preparation demonstration, where we all tasted green smoothies and raw tomato soup. Though it may seem quite drastic, there are an increasing number of people switching to raw food diets. There is a lot of information on the Internet and I have already started saving recipes.

A raw food diet consists primarily of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. While some products are eaten fresh, many dishes utilize various techniques and combinations. The key rule is that food cannot be heated above 116 degrees Fahrenheit (46.6 degrees C) since this is the temperature at which enzymes are destroyed. Until food is heated, active enzymes are present. The activity of these enzymes explains why a fruit continues to ripen until it is ‘preserved’ by heat.

For the next thirty days I shall only eat raw food. Besides the nutritional benefits of the foods in the raw food diet, there are just as many benefits from avoiding certain foods in my standard cooked diet. There are many things that cannot be eaten raw. I anticipate some challenges along the way, but also look forward to a slimmer body and improved health.

As I change my dietary intake, I begin to understand the elements of food and how they contribute to the functioning of my body. Your actual choice of food combinations is personal. In addition to the produce components of my diet, I plan on occasionally eating raw fish (sashimi) for meat protein. I have also begun growing bean sprouts to ingest the living energy contained in each growing plant.

I am becoming aware of the difference between bodily cravings and emotional cravings. Thoughts about certain foods awaken emotional memories; desire for food is often based on how it makes us feel. As I become aware of emotional attachments to food, I can change them in a variety of ways. I have spent my life eating to fulfill desire; now I intend on setting my desires based upon the requirements of my body. Through focus and intent comes knowledge and awareness.

When changing foundational behavior it helps to consider the belief systems supporting that foundation. Companies selling food have created many of our beliefs. Whether the product is eggs, meat, milk, cheese or soda pop, somebody wants you to consume it. Having been overweight most of my life, I realize that there are emotional, psychological, intellectual and habitual aspects to my condition. I also accept that many of the things I believe about food may not be true. As I become a person who is not overweight, certain habits will be released as new ones form. By intentionally changing my perception of food, a new lifestyle falls into place.

I also enter this phase with a fifth-dimensional viewpoint. If we are to achieve light-body, we must make certain changes in our lifestyle. One area that has great impact on our health and physical being is eating. Many of my personal issues and challenges can be related to what I intake. By dramatically changing my eating habits, other changes may occur as well.
