Text Box: The unrest has revealed itself. After fifty years of submission to China, a generation of Tibetans has had enough. Years of anger are being released; the quietness has shifted into noise. While many Tibetans exist in a highly spiritual nature, many others are just people caught in a situation. Riots have broken out. Villagers have banded together, riding their horses into battle like Japanese samurai. People have been killed.

As the deposed spiritual leader of Tibet, the Dalai Lama is being demonized by the Chinese media. Claiming no responsibility for the violence, the Dalai Lama continues to be a man of peace and compassion. Though he will eventually be called upon to negotiate for Tibet, his role will be to settle through peaceful means. Unfortunately it appears that action must be taken to force the Chinese government to even speak with the Dalai Lama.

News of events in Tibet has been hushed. Foreign reporters are not allowed into the area. The Tibetan people are on their own. As the Chinese government attempts to show an organized society for the Beijing Olympics, the people of Tibet declare that the time for independence has arrived. Spokespeople for the United States and the European Union have suggested that a boycott of the Olympics would be considered should the Tibetan situation not be resolved to world satisfaction.

While Tibet festers on the eastern borders, China also faces difficulty on the western shores with Taiwan. Though Taiwan currently operates under self-controlled government, China has stated that it would go to war should Taiwan declare independence. The United States has vowed to defend Taiwan if Chinese attack occurs. While some Taiwanese claim that tighter bonds with China would reap economic benefits, others fear the control of communism.

The beautiful flags of Tibet and Taiwan are not included among those flown by the United Nations. Both regions are recognized as provinces of China rather than unique countries. The symbolic world recognition of the Tibetan flag could coincide with the return of Tibet to its people and the return of the Dalai Lama to his holy palace. Momentous events could occur in Tibet leading to the freedom of a country long suppressed.

For the benefit of humanity, the challenges to China from bordering regions serves to mask the real revolution taking place. While military strategy and focus looks to areas of unrest, hundreds of millions of Chinese prepare to take a stance. The basis of Communist rule is fear and mistrust, and the spiritual growth of the Chinese people has taken them beyond that level. Just as lightworkers in Western society do what they can to move humanity towards peace, spiritual workers in China instigate change.

The people of China have a long and rich history. The four great Chinese inventions that changed the world include gunpowder, the compass, paper and printing. The beauty of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and other spiritual paths originated in China. The concepts of enlightenment and positive contribution are built into the psyche of the Chinese people. As the last bastion of communist rule on our planet, China prepares to shift.

What can we do personally? As lightworkers, we can do many things. Beginning with ourselves, each step taken towards enlightenment helps all. Our actions and personal resonance affect those around us. If we walk through life intending to add light to the world, we shall. We can also increase our knowledge and educate others. Finally, we can focus our energy on the spreading of love throughout the world as humanity learns to become one.
