Text Box: In H.G. Well’s ‘The Time Machine’, a scientist created a device that could carry him forward and backwards in time. The scientist was dependent on the machine to accelerate his journey through the time continuum. In the story he spent most of his time in the future, curious where humanity was headed. When he got there he didn’t like the outcome.

I have learned how to travel through time without requiring a device. Once I get there I can influence the outcome. Traveling to the past and making changes alters my present day status. Much like the Butterfly Effect, small changes to your past can have great influence on your future.

Time travel can be achieved through focused intention. Instead of traveling physically to another time, I get there through meditation. When I recall a particular incident or episode, I have learned to go back and relive the experience in extreme detail. Acting more as an observer than a participant, it is possible to piece together conversations. As the meditative state gets deeper, many details come to the surface.

Like watching a movie of your past, there is a difference between who you were when an event occurred and who you are when you return through meditation. As a fifty year old I can return to an event that happened when I was thirty and see it through different eyes. The experience gained in the past twenty years allows a different outlook.

In our minds all experiences from the past are contained as memories. Many of these memories have emotional attachment. When we recall stories or events from our past, emotions can be awakened. Some of the stories have been retold so many times they are more like legends. Each time an event is remembered or a story retold, the associated feelings are strengthened.

Of course the memories that are most vivid to you may not have the same strength for others. Your perception of the moment is unique and thus the feelings attached to the memories are unique as well. You could remember the horrible day that you fell into the swimming pool, while your brother remembers the funny day that you fell into the pool. Your memories are uniquely yours.

When traveling to the past it is possible to change the outcome of an event by changing your perception of it. When I travel back to moments in time, I seek to understand everything that was going on, both inside and out. I recognize where my beliefs affected the outcome and change my perception of the event by altering beliefs. I recognize my active participation in creation of the story and accept responsibility where applicable.

In traveling to the past, it is also possible to identify energy that is still being held. We tend to carry energy from past events, particularly negative energy. When identified this energy can be released through alteration of perception. You can decide that you have carried this energy long enough and let it go, or you can keep it to learn more.

An event that caused pain in childhood may still exist in your aura as an adult. If you recall an old story and have feelings about it, question whether those feelings still serve you. If they do not, they can be changed through transformational effort. Anger can fuel growth, fear becomes understanding and guilt transforms into love.

I am constantly amazed at the amount of detail stored in my mind. I have added new information every day for five decades. Each day I create new experiences. While I treasure my past and often visit just for fun, I also recognize that my past affects my present and future. Whenever I identify a memory that contains detail, I go back to that moment and transform the energy into positive growth.

Though I spend most of my time in the present, using time travel to the past I am constantly growing. Of course I also move forward in time, influencing future events before they occur. However, that is another story for another day.
